The British Double of 2026

Two Britons, two titles, one year.

Before 2026, no nation had held the Indoor and Outdoor world titles in the same year since the sport split in 1968. Great Britain had not won an Indoor title since Callum Reidford in 1976 and had never won the Outdoor championship at all.

In March, Aaron Warburton won the Indoor World Championship in Rotterdam, beating the defending champion Mathis Delacroix-Brun 210 points to 140 in the final. Warburton's Marco chukka in the final, five tags from 9 calls, was the most efficient in championship history.

In August, Jonathon Couriard won the Outdoor World Championship in Cagliari, scoring 210 points in the final to 130 for the defending champion Joon-ho Baekwol. Couriard was tagged only once in five evading chukkas and finished the championship without a Fish Out of Water infraction.

Warburton and Couriard train together at the Lido Athletic Marco Polo Club. Both now top the FIMP World Ranking in their discipline.
